Bubba Rohel is not your typical Jewish grandmother as her grandson Ben is about to find out. Whilst his mother is baking cakes for the women Zionists in support of Israel, his Bubba Rohel is out demonstrating her support for the Palestinians of Gaza and the West Bank. And despite her friendship with the radical Rabbi Shosh, Bubba Rohel makes obvious her dislike of all religions.

When she offers Ben a refuge from his bickering parents, there are strings attached. He finds himself recruited into Bubba's community activities, as she fights the plans of the local council to cut resources for people who are homeless.

And of course there is the small matter of her involvement in the search for the person who murdered a local businessman.
